Ole Miss 28 Auburn 21

The Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium 28-21. During the first half, Ole Miss was obviously bothered by the noise levels, racking up off-sides penalties and duffing a field goal opportunity. Luckily, Auburn has no offense. It shuffled between two quarterbacks who both sucked. The Rebels defense played pretty well, though, and at no point did Auburn seem to be in this game. The score is close because Auburn put up a slop touchdown at the very end. Mostly, it was about Ole Miss overcoming the noise. All told, I think the Rebels racked up over 200 yards rushing, and quarterback Dart completed passes when he needed to. All in all, Ole Miss wins against Auburn so rarely, I am most pleased. Two in a row, in fact.

I called this one a loss in my predictions, so it’s a freebie. The Rebs take on Vanderbilt next week with a 6-1 record.

Hotty Toddy!

It doesn’t look like Alabama has two conference losses in them, for what it’s worth, so the Rebels, even if they win out, won’t be going to the SEC championship game. Bama ground down Tennessee today, one of the two remaining teams on their schedule that had a chance at beating them. I will say, though, that LSU is going to defeat Alabama, but that’s not going to be enough to push the Rebels to the top of the SEC west. A miracle must happen.
