Does Ole Miss Have a Chance at Georgia?

Nov 10, 23

Things got a good bit bleaker Wednesday for Ole Miss’ hopes of defeating Georgia on the road in Stanford Stadium when starting right guard Micah Pettus went down during practice with a broken foot. He will not play on Saturday. Not good. Not good at all. This was a game in which Ole Miss needed all hands on deck to even have a snowball’s chance in Hell of defeating the Georgia behemoth, quite literally the most complete football team in all of NCAA football. Without their best right guard, what already looked like an impending bloodbath is now looking more like a massacre, a total decimation.

It’s bad. I was looking forward to enjoying Ole Miss losing a relatively close game by double digits, but now I’m not even sure why the Rebels are going to make the trip. Honestly, if UGA spotted 21 points to the Rebels, they’d still probably win by 50. They are THAT good. Literally.

Why are the “DAWGS” so damned good? Well, it all starts with the number of stars the players have attached to their names. What you want is 4 and 5 star players. To give you some perspective on the matter, Micah Pettus, the injured Rebel and star right guard, only had 3 stars. The Rebels are only ever able to get players with three stars or less. The “DAWGS” don’t even have to try and all these high-starred players just go there.

For two, if coaches got stars, on a 1-5 scale like the players, Georgia’s coaches, top to bottom, all get 6 stars. That’s how good they are. They are literal football Einsteins, to a man. How are you going to out-think and out-coach a football genius? You’re not. By comparison, the Ole Miss staff is quite pedestrian.

And for three: All those Georgia fans are going to be lathered up and “barking like a dog” after a day of sucking down moonshine and hard iced tea all day in preparation for the 7 pm kickoff. It’s going to be frothy. Ole Miss will not be able to hear at all, so look out for off-sides penalties by the dozens, miscues, and just a generally demoralized squad.

It’s just all pointing to an embarrasing defeat for the Rebels, and I’m not looking forward to it at all. Not even in the slightest.
